EFFECTIVE 9/29/23: Due to poor quality control issues (not on our end) we have decided to discontinue “COMPLETE” kits. We were having a lot of issues with defective cylinders. So now we are only offering the brackets and hardware needed to adapt a 2004-2014 F-150 tailgate assist kit to your OBS. Any kit will work as long as its for an 04-14. No matter where you purchase from, they are all made in China, quality is hit or miss, but they will always make it right if you get a defective cylinder upon arrival. So we are forced to give away the secrets behind the kit, but this way everyone wins. Again, literally any kit that says it is for an 04-14 F-150 kit will give you the rest of the parts you need to make this a complete kit.

Fits 1987-96 F-150 and 87-97 F-250/350.

Again, this is the BRACKET ONLY. And ONLY the lower bracket, the upper bracket will come in your 04-14 kit. You will need to provide your own tailgate assist kit for an 04-14 F150 for the remainder of the parts needed to make this work.

You may notice some extra resistance when closing the gate. This is from the bracket that originally contacted the rubber block, now contacting the bottom of the cylinder.

These come stitch welded. IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE THAT WAY, as it puts to much heat into the ball stud causing potential stress fractures.

PLEASE NOTE: You will need a nutsert tool and 3/8 course thread nutsert into the existing hole in your tailgate. You may need to drill it out slightly bigger to fit the nutsert. All hardware is provided. It has not been tested, but it may be possible to pull the access panel off an fish a nut on the inside to eliminate the need for a nutsert.

This is a DIRECTIONAL part. It can ONLY be mounted on the driver side of the truck. Adding a second does nothing other than make you spend more money.

This should go without saying, but only OUR bracket is warrantied by JC Customs. If you have a issue with any other component, you need to warranty that wherever you purchased the remainder of the kit from.
