EFFECTIVE 9/29/23: Due to poor quality control issues (not on our end) we have decided to discontinue “COMPLETE” kits. We were having a lot of issues with defective cylinders. So now we are only offering the brackets and hardware needed to adapt a 2004-2014 F-150 tailgate assist kit to your OBS. Any kit will work as long as its for an 04-14. No matter where you purchase from, they are all made in China, quality is hit or miss, but they will always make it right if you get a defective cylinder upon arrival. So we are forced to give away the secrets behind the kit, but this way everyone wins. Again, literally any kit that says it is for an 04-14 F-150 kit will give you the rest of the parts you need to make this a complete kit.
Fits 1987-96 F-150 and 87-97 F-250/350.

Again, this is the BRACKET ONLY. And ONLY the lower bracket, the upper bracket will come in your 04-14 kit. You will need to provide your own tailgate assist kit for an 04-14 F150 for the remainder of the parts needed to make this work.

You may notice some extra resistance when closing the gate. This is from the bracket that originally contacted the rubber block, now contacting the bottom of the cylinder.

PLEASE NOTE: You will need a nutsert tool and 3/8 course thread nutsert into the existing hole in your tailgate. You may need to drill it out slightly bigger to fit the nutsert. All hardware is provided. It has not been tested, but it may be possible to pull the access panel off an fish a nut on the inside to eliminate the need for a nutsert.
This is a DIRECTIONAL part. It can ONLY be mounted on the driver side of the truck. Adding a second does nothing other than make you spend more money.

This should go without saying, but only OUR bracket is warrantied by JC Customs. If you have a issue with any other component, you need to warranty that wherever you purchased the remainder of the kit from.

Your product is shown as a complete set but the article next to the photo of the complete set it says somewhere down in the article that you are only selling the bottom bracket for the same price as the whole set from others. I consider this “bate and switch” and on top of that the weld on the bracket is crap. I’m afraid that I won’t be buying any more products from you,

The description of the product does detail that it is not a complete set multiple times in bold. Were you able to read the description before ordering? If not I can understand the frustration but we try to disclose all the information and are very transparent. The description includes that it's not a full set, what you will need , where to purchase the rest of the set, and even video links with instructions. I also didn't see an email from you or an attempt to return. With that being said I am not sure what we did to earn the bad review since our description is so detailed and transparent. We love an email with an opportunity to resolve or clear up any misunderstanding

I appreciate JC Customs for making a product for my 1996 F-250 that wasnt available any where else I could find.Pretty good quaility and at a fair price.
The welding is really poor - A bit concerned that it will fail..
